
Marty became Executive
Editor of THE LICENSING LETTER in May, 1996, responsible for writing and
editing the twice-monthly newsletter and compiling the publication's
broad range of exclusive industry data. In 2002, he assumed the
additional responsibilities of Editorial Director of the parent company,
EPM Communications, which also publishes the newsletters ENTERTAINMENT
MARKETING LETTER, YOUTH MARKETS ALERT, MARKETING TO EMERGING
MAJORITIES, MARKETING TO WOMEN and RESEARCH ALERT, as well as research
studies and directories.
Marty also oversees The Licensing Letter Symposium — an executive
conference about the future of the licensing business — and is author of
International Licensing: A Status Report, 4th Edition.
He has been a business journalist for more than 25 years, primarily
covering various consumer products and retail industries. Before
joining THE LICENSING LETTER, he spent five years as Senior Editor of
Television Digest, a weekly Washington-based newsletter, responsible for
coverage of the consumer electronics and retail industries. He also was
founding editor of Consumer Multimedia Report, a biweekly newsletter
about the videogame and home computing fields.
At other points in his career, Marty has been Editor of Consumer
Electronics Monthly and Electronics Merchandising, Executive Editor of
Discount Store News, and Retail Editor and Consumer Electronics Editor
at HFD. He has also contributed articles to several business and
consumer publications and addressed major conferences both in the U.S.
and overseas on licensing, consumer electronics and retail topics.
