About Our Speakers

Jim Seybert is a consultant who specializes in helping companies think differently, facilitating ideation and strategic planning clinics for clients in the entertainment, retail, publishing, health care, non-profit, consumer products and consumer services industries. He writes a regular feature for Christian Retailing magazine based on research conducted in cooperation with the publication, covering retail and manufacturing concerns in the Christian products arena. He is a frequent source for news organizations looking for insight into the Christian specialty market. Jim’s most recent book is “The One Year Mini for Leaders,” a daybook providing business insight based on passages from scripture. He is currently working on “Leadership Re:Vision,” scheduled for publication in April 2009.

Mara Einstein brings the perspective of a 20-year advertising and media executive to the subject of marketing religion. She’s been a marketer at NBC and MTV Networks, and worked at major advertising agencies on such accounts as Miller Lite, Uncle Ben’s and Dole Foods. Her first book, “Media Diversity: Economics, Ownership and the FCC,” was the cause for much debate when Mara’s research was used by the FCC as the basis for redefining media ownership rules. She has a doctorate in media ecology from New York University, an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern, and a BFA from Boston University. Her next book is about girls and the media.

Ira Mayer is president and of EPM Communications, which provides research and analysis of consumer trends and behavior, marketing and consumer products licensing. The company publishes newsletters, directories and studies that are used by advertising agencies, entertainment and media companies, brand marketers, retailers, and others. For 20 years prior to co-founding EPM, Ira's night job was as a rock critic. By day, he wrote about the business of entertainment for newspapers, magazines and research organizations. Ira is adjunct professor of marketing at New York University, and holds an M.A. in media ecology from NYU and a B.A. from Hunter College.
